How is the gender-age group distribution related to the Standard Age curve ? It is asking us to compare them but they don't seem to be similar in anyway.

For: "...U.S. Care, your largest competitor with 35% market share in region 3, to shift to other regions, leaving some of their members to potentially choose coverage with your company". Is this statement assuming that a smaller percentage of U.S. Care's market share will go towards region 3 or will U.S. Care's coverage shift completely away from region 3?

Hi,
In the case study prompt, there is one sentence that states
"Using 2016 historical claims experience, prepare a summary of your base data in the “HIX Summary” worksheet"
Going through the Excel file, there is no sheet labeled "HIX Summary", yet the "Unit Cost and Area" Sheet asks for the projected HIX base. Are we to assume that the "Base Data" is representative of the HIX base?
Thank you.

Are the amounts allowed on a Medicare basis (implying they can be scaled up according to the network cost adjustment rates) or are they on the company's basis? Thanks!

How do we calculate member months based on service category? Wouldn't it be overlapping since there are members who are in more than one service categories? Thanks!

Hello, Good luck to all R1 participants of the BAS/Molina Case Competition! I have 3 questions I was hoping you could answer:
1) For non-UCLA teams, at what time on 1/17 can we expect to hear back about the teams that will make it to R2? 2) If my team makes it to R2, is it true that both a) the most current deck and b) the Actuarial Memorandum are due at 10 AM, Thursday 1/19? 3) If my team makes it to R2 and the answer to q2 above is yes for both, can the most current deck and the actuarial memorandum be changed between 10 AM and 6 PM on Thursday 1/19?
Thanks!

Thanks! Hi! 1) For non-UCLA teams, you should be expecting to hear back from us around 10PM today. We will let all the teams know the decisions as soon as possible 2) Yes, both (updated Power Point and the Actuarial Memorandum) will be due for second round 3) We can extend the deadline for second round to 1PM for all the teams that make to the final round.
