Is the rater suppose to have an input and an output? Such as typing information in an area and having it update a table? Or is it suppose to be tables with such information? We briefly answered this question earlier, but it is perhaps worth addressing again. At the bare minimum, your rater must display the premium for the three different profiles. Although it is generally better style to have your rating engine accept user input (and if you have time to make this enhancement, we would love to see it), the judges will only be verifying the output of your rater for the three sample profiles. We understand that time is extremely limited for this case, so we would prefer to see you focus on the presentation once you are able to obtain a premium for each policy.

Should the rater calculate the premiums for only one vehicle or the total premium for all vehicles insured?

Are we allowed to use tools other than Excel (like R) and display results from those tools on our presentation?

Should the rater calculate the premiums for only one vehicle or the total premium for all vehicles insured? Each profile corresponds to one policy. You must calculate a premium for each profile. Are we allowed to use tools other than Excel (like R) and display results from those tools on our presentation? Feel free to use whatever other tools you wish to generate visuals. However, we must require that the actual analysis be done in Excel.

Are we allowed to use statistics from outside sources to support our claims if we cite them?

Hi, so for task 2, when we give reasons as to why we want to include a new variable, do you want general reasons, or do you want us to actually take the new variable into rating algorithm and calculate its significance? Thanks!

Hi, so for task 2, when we give reasons as to why we want to include a new variable, do you want general reasons, or do you want us to actually take the new variable into rating algorithm and calculate its significance? Thanks! We do not expect you to perform any such calculations, since you are not expected to build a GLM in Excel. If you are able to make some of these types of computations to support your recommendation, by all means, feel free to do so. However, such a calculation may rely on extensive industry data that is not provided to you in the given files, so you do not have to quantitatively discuss the impacts and significance. We do recommend that you discuss the impact of your recommendations qualitatively.

Are we then allowed to do data research and use them during the presentation given we have the citation?

Hi, our rater contains macros and contents that may not be supported in some versions of Excel. Is that Okay?

Hi, our rater contains macros and contents that may not be supported in some versions of Excel. Is that Okay? Judges will have the newer versions of Excel installed. Moreover, judges will only be looking at the output and intermediate steps of the rater. As long as your filetype is one of the supported types (see kickoff email), you will be okay.

If one of our team members is unable to record a video with us because he is out of town and he won't be back by Friday either, can we just have three people to present on Friday?

1. During our presentation will we get a clicker? or will one of the teammates use the laptop move the presentation along?

Our presentation file is too big to attach (even with compressing). Are there any alternative ways to send the video file?
